Heartland Wrestling Association announced today they were hiring new booker on the scene Kidd West, his first act as booker was to terminate the contracts of every member of the roster in what was called the ‘Clean Slate’ of HWA. Furthermore, West pushed for HWA to run an event every month in an attempt to both generate more income as well as increase the Regional Company’s image
Using key links in the industry, he secured sponsorships for HWA with SlimJim, Little Caesars, Right Guard, and Blockbusters. This generates between $330,000 – 380,000 per sponsor per show for HWA. With the Clean Slate occurring, he needed to hire up 26 new workers to lead the new era for HWA. Building his roster up around speed. Key signings like El Generico, El Ligero, Eric Young, Kevin Steen and Petey Williams giving the company promising strength.
Other notable signings included Chris Hero, Trent Acid and Chris Sabin.
HWA Fight Club April 1st 2007
Opening the Show. Kevin Steen challenged Petey Williams that night, with General Manager Kidd West making the match a Title Match for the HWA Heavyweight Championship. Steen and Williams stared each other down before walking their separate ways.

The first match of the night. El Ligero and Deranged both fought for the new HWA X-Division Championship. Deranged was able to pick up the win after grabbing a handful of El Ligero’s tights when doing a rollup, allowing him to get the three count. Despite this, Ligero still went to shake Deranged’s hand. Deranged, not being one to waste an opportunity, cheap shotted Ligero before slamming him and hitting the Blue Print from the top rope.

Following that, Trent Acid was at Fight Club tonight to challenge El Generico to a match for the HWA International Championship. Kidd West agreed to sanction the match.

Kenny Omega vs. Matt Catalano
The debut match for rookie Kenny Omega. This match was to decide the HWA United States Championship. A decent showing from both men. Catalano scored the pin in a match the crowd were disinterested in. As a result, the angered Catalano proceeded to beat down Omega, pummeling him into the mat as a punishment.

El Generico vs. Trent Acid
A proper showing from both gentlemen in a strong bout for the title. Generico was able to clinch the victory and score himself the International Championship after some dirty play hitting a field-goal kick between Acid’s legs. Getting the three count and a volley of boo’s from the crowd. Leaving with the title before Acid can get his revenge.

Petey Williams vs. Kevin Steen
In the final match of the night for the HWA Heavyweight Championship. Williams and Steen bumped fists before they initiated their bout as a sign of respect. However, the match turned sour fast after Williams kicked Steen hard in the leg. Things turned even more serious as a result, culminating in a friendly match souring as Williams scored the three count with a Canadian Destroyer. Post Match the angered Steen pushed the ref out the way and charged at Steen, hitting the distracted champ with a Steenalizer.

Kevin Steen opened the show with an interview. He openly mocked the injured Petey Williams as a weak champion and a disgrace to the belt. He told Williams that he shouldn’t turn up to Fight Club next week or else.

Opening up with a jobber match, Chase Stevens easily beat Cisco Satanico with no effort at all, scoring himself an easy pin and making himself look good at the same time

Mikey Tenderfoot held his interview segment “The Hurt Locker” backstage. Interviewing Trent Acid he was asking if Acid had what it takes to challenge El Generico again. Unfortunately the interview was interrupted by El Generico attempting to blindside Acid with the championship. Luckily Acid ducked in time and fought back well enough to leave Generico lying on the floor.

Demanding a chance to reprove himself, Omega easily handled the challenge of Chris Idol with almost no effort. However, celebrations were cut short when Matt Catalano rushed into the ring to beat down the victorious Kenny Omega. Catalano sneered over Omega and raised the United States Championship up high.

Backstage, El Ligero was warming up in the training area when Deranged insulted him from behind, in anger, Ligero hurled his own insults towards him. Both men came face to face but fighting was prevented when they were separated by the trainers and other wrestlers

Rounding off Fight Club, Chris Hero was granted a match against Dragon Aisu. Hero was able to overpower the Dragon in a decent match that was excitable for the fans. Hero escaped a Hammerlock with an elbow to the face and was able to strike his Hero’s Welcome to grab himself a snappy quick 3 count

Matt Catalano kicked off the show with an interview where he taunted Kenny Omega and his weakness compared to Catalano. He issued the challenge of a tag team match later that night with Omega being forced to search for a partner backstage.

A great match between two athletic titans. El Generico and Acero Dorado were evenly matched until Trent Acid ran down to the ring chair in hand and pummeled the unaware El Generico across the head with the chair leading to Acero to be disqualified. Trent stood over Generico and dropped the chair at his feet before walking out of the ring.

A low quality tag bout. Kenny Omega and Andy Van Dam worked well together with Omega scoring the pin of Catalano when Catalano’s own teammate accidentally clotheslined him when Omega dodged. Scoring the pinfall victory, Omega and Van Dam celebrate victoriously.

A short match that was decent. Kevin Steen had the upper hand and was easily able to score a pin against Senior Kidd. When Steen started pummelling him with kicks. In reaction, Petey Williams charged down the ramp to save Kidd from further damage with Williams fighting off Steen, forcing him to retreat back up the ramp.
