Kohl: Welcome everyone to an exclusive GCW interview. I am joined today by a familiar face that many of you will probably recognise. Here is Ian Dawson.
Ian: It’s a pleasure to be here Kohl, it’s been a while.
Kohl: Thank you for joining us Ian. So, the obvious first question is, what happened with Mason James?
Ian: Well, Mason and I saw that something was not right. After opportunity after opportunity, Mason just didn’t seem to be able to jump the final hurdle. I didn’t see any reason to keep Mason competing if all that would happen is that he would lose at the most crucial of times. So, we took somewhat of a hiatus while we reviewed what went wrong and what needed to change.
Kohl: Many people have stated that Mason came out of the gates too hot and was not ready to be thrown into big matches such as the United States tournament. Would you agree with such a claim?
Ian: In all honesty, yes. I was always constantly pushing Mason to be the strongest, to be the fastest, to be the greatest that I knew he could be. I got it in my head that Mason deserved title matches without even letting him compete in his first match. That was silly of me as it hyped him up to levels that were impossible to reach. So, for this next run, we intend to be more…relaxed in our approach, but not so relaxed that we lose our focus.
Kohl: Well, there was a great opportunity to return in the hardcore championship battle royal. How come you didn’t take one of the six places in that?
Ian: As much as Mason would be amazing in the rumble itself, I mean hell, he holds the record for most eliminations in a rumble! I believe that if he were to win it, he would have a small chance of winning the title due to his lack of hardcore experience. Mason is not built for weapon based combat. I would much rather wait until a real opportunity arrives instead of throwing him in situations that he stands no chance in.
Kohl: Ok, so what are you intending to change in this return? Are you going to stay the same or are you changing things up?
Ian: Well while we were off, I realised that forcing Mason to remain silent and emotionless was hindering his ability to focus solely on matches. So, for our return, I intend to let Mason be more free in how he expresses himself. Whether that is through his in ring work or through promos, I’m leaving it up to him.
Kohl: So does this mean you are no longer the voice of Mason James?
Ian: …Yes. I am now simply the Controller of the monster that is Mason James.
Kohl: Exciting. So when are you intending on making your return? Is there a specific date?
Ian: *smiling* I’m afraid the best I can tell you is “always watch the shadows, for a monster can always be lurking from within.”
Kohl: Very chilling. Thanks again for coming Ian. I can’t wait for the return of Mason to GCW.
Ian: Oh, you personally don’t have to wait very long to meet him.
Kohl: What do you me-
*Kohl suddenly freezes as he feels a large presence behind him. All the camera can make out is a shadowy figure looming behind Kohl who now looks terrified*
Ian: *smirking at the camera* You might want to stop filming this.
*The screen cuts to static as the sound of screaming and crashing can be heard before the screen cuts back again to the camera which is now on the floor where Kohl can be seen in a mess on the floor. Ian can then be seen leaning directly into the camera, his head tilted awkwardly*
Ian: I hope you missed us. *he begins to laugh manically*
*The screen finally cuts to black*
